The Ignition Grant is offered by APIIC i-TBI, a DST’s NIDHI i-TBI, to support startups and innovators in raising their Technology Readiness Level (TRL) and securing further funding. The program offers comprehensive support including:

Co-working space
Mentorship and Training
Access to infrastructure
Financial grant support through a selection/screening process.

APIIC i-TBI will also assist in securing funding from other external sources. The grant focuses on sectors like Medical, Healthcare, and Biotech.

Permissible Expenditures under the Grant:

Outsourcing Charges for R&D, Design, Consultancy, Testing, or Expert cost.
Raw material, Consumables, or Spares.
Fabrication or Synthesis charges of working model or process.
Business Travel and Event participation Fees (Ceiling 10% of approved project cost).
Patent filing Cost – (PCT – Ceiling 10% of approved project cost).
Contingency – (Ceiling 10% of approved project cost).

Orientation Session related to Ignition grant writing will be conducted, so candidate join the session prior to proposal submission
Submission doesn’t confirm the funding opportunity or Selection for presentation.
After passing the pre-selection, the applicants will receive a mail for date of final presentation.
Decision of the selection committee will be final.
Presentation will be In-Person at APIIC, no request for online mode will be entertained.

Eligibility

Objective is to help startups and innovators raise their TRL (Technology Readiness Level) and secure funding. APIIC i-TBI will also offering support through its mentoring and secure funding from other external sources. Our Incubation application form is open from 15th Nov 2025 to 5th Dec 2025.

Focus Area/Sector for applicant startup: Medical, Healthcare, Biotech and relevant fields.

Applicants must be individuals or early-stage startups, at least 18 years old, and the startup should be incorporated in India with a minimum of 51% equity held by Indian citizens

The proposed project must be a physical product with a roadmap towards commercialization, and the prototype must be completed within 12 to 14 months.
