Scheme Details In Depth

RKVY-RAFTAAR is a Government-backed, non-dilutive grant-in-aid opportunity for agritech and allied-sector startups. It supports founders through a national network of RKVY Agri-Business Incubators (R-ABIs) and Knowledge Partners (KPs). For this listing, IIT Kanpur’s ecosystem participates through FIRST (IIT Kanpur) via SIIC, enabling structured screening, mentoring, and incubation support.

What funding can you receive?

  1. Pre-seed / Idea Grant: Up to ₹5,00,000 to validate a strong problem statement and build a PoC / prototype.

  2. Seed Grant: Up to ₹25,00,000 for startups with an MVP to run pilots, refine the product, and move toward commercialisation (typically through milestone-based releases).

What can the grant be used for?

  • Product development and refinement

  • Trials/pilots, testing, and data generation

  • Test marketing and go-to-market preparation

  • Essential manpower linked to execution

  • IP/technology and operational needs aligned with the programme

Why it matters (impact snapshot):
Public programme updates indicate that 1,500+ agristartups have been supported nationally, with ₹175+ crore in grant recommendations and substantial releases already made. Recent operational guidelines also set targets to train/incubate 3,500+ startups and fund ~2,000–2,200 during the guideline period.
