How to Apply: Step by Step Process
2. Collect admission letter, fee structure, academic records and KYC documents for the student and co-borrower.
3. Apply online through SBI's education loan portal / YONO or visit the nearest SBI branch and fill the student loan application form.
4. Submit required documents and, where applicable, collateral details; SBI assesses credit profile, course and repayment capacity.
5. On approval, sign sanction documents, execute the loan agreement and complete any security formalities.
6. Loan is disbursed directly to the educational institution and, where permitted, partly to the student's or co-borrower's account as per the fee schedule.

SBI Student Loan Scheme – Finance Your Higher Studies
The SBI Student Loan Scheme is a term loan that helps Indian students fund higher education in India and abroad once they secure admission to an eligible course.
What this loan covers:
– Tuition fees, exam and library fees
– Hostel and living expenses
– Books, equipment, uniforms, travel and other education-related costs, as per SBI norms
Key Highlights:
Loan Amount:
– Up to Rs.50 lakh for studies in India (case-to-case basis)
– Up to Rs.7.5 lakh for studies abroad (higher amounts considered under SBI Global Ed-Vantage Scheme)
Tenure & Moratorium:
– Repayment period up to 15 years after course period plus 12 months repayment holiday
Margin:
– Nil margin up to Rs.4 lakh
– 5% for studies in India and 15% for studies abroad above Rs.4 lakh (up to Rs.7.5 lakh)
Security / Collateral:
– No security up to Rs.7.5 lakh (parent/guardian as co-borrower)
– Tangible collateral plus parent/guardian co-borrower for loans above Rs.7.5 lakh
