Scheme Details In Depth

BCDD Grant KSUM: Empowering OBC Entrepreneurs

BCDD Grant KSUM launches early-stage financial assistance of up to ₹10 lakhs for Backward Classes graduates, promoting inclusive entrepreneurship in Kerala’s vibrant startup ecosystem. This government-backed, non-dilutive scheme, implemented by Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) with the Backward Classes Development Department (BCDD), transforms innovative ideas into scalable ventures.

Two-Stage Funding Structure

The BCDD Grant KSUM delivers structured support through two clear stages:

  1. Idea Grant (up to ₹3 Lakhs) – Validates concepts and fuels initial development.

  2. Productisation Grant (up to ₹7 Lakhs) – Accelerates prototype building, market entry, and early growth.

Funding releases in milestone-based tranches, with 50% upfront upon approval, ensuring steady progress and accountability.

Who Benefits? Targeted Impact

This initiative specifically empowers OBC/OEC graduates aged 23-40, breaking financial barriers for under-represented communities. Eligible startups showcase innovative technology-based products, requiring a minimum of 80% OBC ownership for productisation grants.

Transparent 4-Step Application Journey

  1. Online application via the KSUM grants portal.

  2. Document verification and expert review.

  3. Pitch presentation before the selection committee.

  4. Milestone Disbursal post-incorporation (Pvt Ltd/LLP/OPC) and KSUM Unique ID.

Ecosystem Integration & Growth

Recipients gain seamless access to KSUM’s mentorship, incubation, and scaling programs, connecting them to Kerala’s thriving tech hub. No sector restrictions apply—any tech-based innovation qualifies—fostering diversity across domains.
